Soprano Alison King and tenor Brad Raymond will sing a collection of musical theater, operatic arias and duets that explore the theme of love. They will be accompanied by pianist David Saffert.

Alison King, born in Portland, Oregon is a young artist at the prestigious Oper Frankfurt studio program. She is a graduate of the Yale Opera Studio and a student of Marilyn Horne. Last year she sang on stage at the Metropolitan Opera as a National Semifinalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. Ms. King has performed numerous times at Carnegie Hall as a recitalist as well as in in concert for The Marilyn Horne Song Celebration with Susan Graham. She has received awards with The Gerda Lissner Competition, The Licia Albanese Puccini, Opera Birmingham and the Bel Canto Foundation. She performed at the Opera Bastille as part of the Carnegie Hall: Paris Residency with special guest artist Martin Katz. She was an apprentice artist at Chautauqua Opera and attended The Music Academy of the West singing Anne Trulove in The Rake’s Progress and Micaëla in Carmen. Recently Ms. King sang Mozart’s Requiem with The Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra. This past summer she was a young artist at The Glimmerglass Festival covering Mimi in La Bohème. Roles this season in Frankfurt have included Musetta in La Bohème, Erste Dame in Die Zauberflöte, Polyxène in Les Troyens, the Fortune Teller in Arabella, Erste Dame in Das Geheime Königreich as well covering Tatiana in Eugene Onegin. Ms. King can also be seen on MediciTV as a performer in Joyce DiDonato’s master classes at Carnegie Hall.
Brad Raymond has enjoyed a promising career as an operatic and concert performer throughout the United States and Europe since 2001. He recently appeared in Candide and La gazza ladra with Glimmerglass Opera, Eugene Onegin with Opera Theatre Middlebury, Manon Lescaut with Chautauqua Opera, and Amahl and the Night Visitors with Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra. His opera credits also include Opera Saratoga, Aspen Opera Theater, Boston Lyiric Opera,and Columbus Opera. He recently reprised the role of the Governor in Candide in his European debut with Opera Theater Toulouse and Bordeaux Opera. Raymond has also won prizes in numerous singing competitions, including First Prize in the National Opera Association Regional Competition, a Semi-finalist in the Joy in Sing Competition, Second place in the Fielder Grant Competition, a Finalist in the Merola Opera Program Auditions, numerous First Place awards in both district and regional National Association for the Teachers of Singing competitions, a Full Scholarship to tour Austria as a soloist for the Irving Chorale, and the award for Best Male Vocalist in the City of Austin as named by the Austin Critics’ Table for the title role in Albert Herring.
David Saffert has played piano locally for the Oregon Symphony, Portland Opera, Oregon Ballet Theatre, Resonance Ensemble, and has been featured on All Classical Portland radio’s “Thursdays at Three.” Past credits involve work with the Guthrie Theater, Theatre de la Jeune Lune, James Sewell Ballet, and the Interlochen Arts Camp. Currently, David is a Liberace Impersonator who is in the process of obtaining rights and promotion from the Liberace Foundation in Las Vegas. His company, In Sequins Productions, includes Bo Ayars, Liberace’s own Music Director of 13 years. Once rights are obtained, David will be the only licensed Liberace performer in the world.
